Thorn in the Side..
Southern 3, TR South 2: The Indians (1-1 overall, 1-1 in Class A South) fell to the pesky Rams (1-1, 1-1) in their home opener at the Ken Frank Baseball Stadium.
South failed to capitalize on 10 basehits as they stranded numerous baserunners. After taking a 1-0 lead in the first when Chase Gray (2 for 4, 2B) scored on the front end of a double steal, the Rams came back with 2 in the top of the 2nd off junior Jeff Bissey (0-1). The Indians tied it in the bottom of the 2nd on a Kevin Bellavance single.
Bissey, who struck out six and walked one in his first varsity start, yielded the go ahead run in the top of the sixth.
South will travel to Brick Saturday morning for its next game.
