Off to a good start...

TR South 10, Monmouth 1: The Indians got their preseason off to a solid start as they put up a good offensive showing against the defending NJSIAA Group III Champions.

Junior Steve Waggonhoffer broke the game open in the bottom of the fourth inning when he drilled a two-run homer over the left field wall. He would later add a double.

Senior Casey Chant drilled a two-run triple one inning later as South pushed the lead to 7-1.

Junior righthander Marc Potter earned the win as he pitched the fourth, fifth and sixth inning. He followed a strong shutout performance by senior righty Evan Bigler. Senior righty Rick Petrosino pitched a scoreless seventh to end it.

South hosts Ferris High School tomorrow at 10 a.m.
