Indians Wrap Up Season as A South Champs...

Congratulations to the TR South Baseball team for defeating Toms River North on Friday, 2 to 0, and finishing in first place in the Shore Conference Class A South for the first time since 2003.

Senior Evan Bigler struck out four, walked one and scattered five hits in the 5 inning game to finish his senior year with a 12 and 1 record. With the win, Bigler joined the illustrious 20-win club – posting a career pitching record of 20 and 5.

Offensive stars included Chase Gray, who homered, and Jared Tramutola, who scored the Indians first run on an error.

It was South’s third win over the Mariners this year and their second SHUTOUT. With the win the Indians finished the season with a 23 and 7 record and put a “Ball on the Wall.”

Congratulations to seniors Ian Mills, Joe Bellavance, Kyle Lamar, Casey Chant, Scott Potter, Tim O’Brien, Joe Mondalto, Rick Petrosino, Bill Fischer, Jared Tramutola and Evan Bigler for all their success. Great job, great season.

Ocean Township 13, TR South 6: The Spartans, who went on to win the Central Jersey Group III title, pounded the Indians to capture the SCT Championship at First Energy Park, home of the Lakewood Blue Claws.

Joe Talerico started and took the loss, giving up 5 runs in the first inning.

Eastern Twp. 11, TR South 10 (9 inn.): Evan Bigler suffered his only loss of the year, pitching a gutty four innings of relief. South gave up leads of 5-1, 8-6 and 10-8 before losing to the persistent Vikings, who went on to lose to TR East 3-2 in the SJ Group IV Championship.

Offensive stars included Tyler Gebler, Jared Tramutola and Chase Gray.
