TR South Wins Fifth in a Row
TR South 7, Southern 1: Junior lefty Andrew McGee went the distance, striking out nine, walking none and scattering seven hits to lead the visiting Indians to a victory over the host Rams.It was the fifth win in five days for South (8-4 overall, 6-3 in A South).
The Indians broke open the game in the third inning, scoring four runs. Senior right fielder Joe Patterson had the big hit, driving a two-run double to right centerfield. Senior Dan Davis added a sacrifice fly and sophomore David Egeland singled in Patterson to make it 4-0. Junior Tyler Kapp added an RBI single in the fourth and after a Patterson triple in the fifth, Davis and junior Michael Coon had RBI singles to make it 7-0.
Southern's Donnie Blasco tripled in the bottom of the fifth and scored on a sacrifice fly for Southern's only run.
South shortstop Tyler Gebler was three for four with a run scored while Kapp and Coon were each two for three.
